The Chalon blog is our scrapbook - or magazine -
compiled to feature a broad mix of articles that we
think our website visitors will find of interest. The
articles within have been curated to reflect our
interest in architecture, interiors, design, food &
drink, and all of the things that might possibly make
our house and home live up to our own dreams of what
it might be (and the Chalon kitchen that
we might have within it!) - and, alongside all of the
design and decorative items, we will post articles
that also feature Chalon's commitment to conservation
and the environment too. '
South African designer Katie Thompson takes disused pieces from yesteryear, and gives them new function perfect for a home or office whose interior feel is a mix of vintage and modern chic. In particular, it’s her conversion of vintage suitcases, ranging from metallic to bakelite constructions, into functional seats that has caught my eye.
Playing with Tradition is a series of oriental rugs by Dutch designer Richard Hutten, where the traditional patterns are stretched into stripes. The traditional ends of the rugs retain their decorative fringes while the contemporary sides have been cut off cleanly.
